One Month Ago Today

One month ago today a little boy walked off the elevator with his orphanage teacher and was placed in our arms. I have no words to describe what it felt like to hold our baby in my arms for the first time. I felt instantly that our hearts were knit together and I knew God had hand picked this little boy to be part of our family. The emotions are still overwhelming as I think of that day.

Within hours of having him in our arms we saw our little boy blossom before our eyes.

We learned very quickly that this little boy was a Curious George and loved exploring this new world that had been opened to him.

We also found out very quickly that he was Mr. Personality. He cracked us up from day one. We knew this little boy had so much life in him.

We had an amazing time experiencing China and falling in love with our son's birth country.

As good as our time away was we couldn't wait to get home to our other 3 and become a family of 6. It was so fun to see Max with the kids. He fits, he's a McDonald! God knew exactly what he was doing when he placed this little boy in our family.
Max has experienced so much since he has been home. There were so many new faces, new things to see, new smells .... more big firsts for him. He also has experienced not so fun things like the dreaded car seat, blood draws, shots and GI tests at the doctor. We are so grateful all his labs and his GI tests have come back with normal results.

He has experience bath time with is brother. This is Shane's favorite part of the day. He finally has someone to take a bath with.

He has figured out how to go up and down steps. He still is working on how to turn around for the decent when he gets all the way to the top.
<span class=
He is pulling himself up and walking around things all the time.
<span class=
He has mastered eating at the table with the rest of us. This boy loves to eat.
<span class=
He experienced the first family dinner out for his sister's birthday. Yes, we had a very successful dinner out with the 6 of us days after he was home.
<span class=
He has celebrated his first Holiday with his family.
<span class=
He loves his big sisters. Look at the way he looks at Alexa. There are always plenty of cuddles to go around.
<span class=
The kids have been teaching him how to wave, play peek a boo, pat a cake, clap, hum, work different toys and they are trying their hardest to get him to say some words.
<span class=
He is all boy .... busy, loud and loves his cars.
<span class=
He has figured out how to get into all those places that are so much fun around the house like the Tupperware cupboard.
<span class=
He has discovered the hours of fun he can have with a balloon!
<span class=
He made his big debut at school and his sister very proudly told her friends about her brother, China and Chinese New Year.
<span class=
He experienced his first Chinese New Year celebration with new friends.
<span class=
He has discovered that all his favorite toys make music and this little boy can bee bop with the best of them.
It is hard to believe that we have been home for such a short time and yet this little boy has quickly been knit right into our family. He is adored and loved!

The miracle of adoption never gets old!! I followed your blog a bit while you were in China. (found it from Sonia's His Hands, His Feet blog) Your children are beautiful and so loving to their newest sibling. It warms my heart to see the love and acceptance that siblings have. We experienced it when we brought our daughter home from China in 2007. I am giddy over excitement of getting to experience it again when we receive our referral from South Korea--soon, I hope.
